Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Bento Days: Photo Journal collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our mobile application.
Information We Collect
Your journal never leaves your device.
Entries, photos, amounts and the places where photos were taken are stored on your phone only. There is no account, no sync, and no server holding your journal — we cannot read it, and neither can anyone else.
The app asks for a few permissions so it can do its job. Everything they give access to stays local:
- Photos — read from your own library to suggest them for the right day. A small copy is kept on your device so the page still shows something if the original is removed
- Camera — photos you take in the app are written to your own photo library, so they stay yours even if you remove the app
- Location (optional, off until you say yes) — saved with the entry so you can see where a day happened. Turn it off any time in Settings
What does leave your device
- Place names (only if you use them): a photo’s coordinates are sent to your phone’s own map service to be turned into a place name. Nothing from your journal is sent
- Usage analytics (Firebase Analytics): anonymized usage patterns, crashes and errors
- Advertising (Google AdMob): advertising ID and ad interaction data
- Device information: brand, model, operating system version
We do not collect
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone)
- Your contacts
- The contents of your journal
How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information to:
- Provide core app functionality

- Store app data locally on your device

Your Rights and Choices
Advertising:
- iOS: Settings → Privacy → Advertising → Limit Ad Tracking
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization
Data Deletion:
- Uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data
We do not collect personally identifiable information, so there is no personal data to access or correct.
Children’s Privacy
This app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. We do not require account registration or request personal information from any users.
Location Data
Bento Days can note where a photo was taken, so you can see where a day happened. This is off until you turn it on, and you can turn it back off at any time in Settings.
The coordinates are stored with that entry on your device. They are not uploaded to us.
If you ask the app to show a place name instead of raw coordinates, only that photo’s coordinates are sent to your phone’s own map service to be turned into a name. Nothing else from your journal is sent.
